Maria Elizabeth James (1799-1859)
Born at Barkway, Hertfordshire, a small town I visited in 2011. She married Josiah Parker in 1816 at Barkway. In June 1857 she migrated to Australia on the ship “Tudor” with her son Benjamin (my great-great-grandfather) and 3 or 4 of her other sons. However, only 3 years later she died at Little Bendigo, Ballarat of heart disease aged 60. She is buried at an unknown location in Ballarat New Cemetery.
Her parents are recorded as Thomas James and Eleanor Burton who were married at Barkway on Christmas Eve 1795.
